Baking is a science so make sure you follow the recipe and the correct amount of each ingredient and follow the recipe step by step. Use eggs at room temperature. Check your recipe to see if butter should be soften or chilled.
Don’t worry if your cake looks a little wonky or your soufflé is a bit flat, we are sure it will still taste delicious. Anyone can give baking a go. If you are worried about your baking why not drop our BakingMad.com expert an email at email@example.com
If you’re looking to get the best taste, colour and aroma in your baking, we recommend using Billington’s finest quality unrefined sugar. You’ll also be able to add another depth of flavour to your baking by using Billington’s unrefined Light and Dark Muscavado Sugars, instead of the regular light or dark soft sugar, to create wonderfully rich caramel baked goodies.
A small amount of vanilla extract adds a boost to your baking. Make sure you look for vanilla extract rather than of essence for the best results in your baking. We recommend using Nielsen-Massey Vanilla extract.
For baking you’ll need a large bowl, wooden spoon, weighing scales, measuring spoons, measuring jug, baking paper and a whisk to get you started.
Self raising flour contains a raising agent so is great for recipes such as a Victoria sponge where no extra baking soda or baking powder is need (unless stated in the recipe). If the recipe calls for plain flour such as a pie or tart it may be a raising agent is not required.
