Method

  1. Step 1:

    Preheat the oven to 190°C (170°C fan, gas mark 5). Line a 900g (2lb) loaf tin with baking paper.

  2. Step 2:

    Mix the flour, golden granulated sugar, cocoa powder, bicarbonate of soda and baking powder in a bowl.

  3. Step 3:

    In a seperate bowl mix the butter, eggs, bananas and chocolate together.

  4. Step 4:

    Fold the banana mixture well into the dry ingredients and place the mixture into the prepared loaf tin.

  5. Step 5:

    Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour. Cool in the tin and serve sliced.

    • 175g Plain wholemeal flour
    • 150g Billington's unrefined golden granulated sugar
    • 25g Cocoa powder
    • 1 tsp Bicarbonate of soda
    • 1 tsp Baking powder
    • 115g Butter (salted) (melted)
    • 2 Egg(s) (free range) (lightly beaten)
    • 275g Banana(s) (very ripe, mashed)
    • 100g Dark chocolate (cut into small chunks)
