Apple & Blackberry Crumble Ingredients

500 grams Blackberries
6 Bramley Apples (peeled, cored, sliced)
25 grams Light Muscovado Sugar (Billington's) Light Muscovado Sugar (Billington's)
1 tsp Cinnamon (ground)
1 tsp Cloves (ground)
2 tbsp Water

120 grams Plain White Flour (Allinson Nature Friendly) Plain White Flour (Allinson Nature Friendly)
1 tsp Baking Powder
40 grams Butter (unsalted)
75 grams Light Muscovado Sugar (Billington's) Light Muscovado Sugar (Billington's)
50 grams Almonds (ground)

How to make Apple & Blackberry Crumble

  1. Wash and drain the blackberries. Peel, slice & core the apples. Place the apples in a bowl with the sugar, cinnamon & water and mix together, add the blackberries and mix together, then put the fruit in the pie dish.
  2. Heat the oven to gas 3/170°C. To make the crumble, sieve the flour and baking powder into a bowl, rub the butter in using your fingertips until it is a sandy consistency, add the almonds and sugar and mix well. Sprinkle the crumble topping over the fruit and even it our with a fork. method tip
  3. Bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes until the crumble is golden brown.
  4. Serve with fresh custard.

"Taste was superb, but, the apples were not cooked! 6 bramleys, I think, are too much, 4 would probably have done. The crumble was a delight. I added some pine nuts on top for a bit of texture."
