New look for Allinson Nature Friendly Plain & Self Raising White Flour

How are Nature Friendly Flours different?

Allinson Nature Friendly Flours are milled from Conservation Grade™ Wheat which comes from Nature Friendly farms, which means everytime you buy Allinson Nature Friendly Flour, you are helping to preserve British wildlife.

What is Nature Friendly Farming?

Conservation Grade™ farmers actively manage their farmland to promote biodiversity and create conditions in which wildlife can flourish by:

  • Growing wildflowers and building ponds to create sustainable habitats for insects, small mammals and birds;
  • Erecting bird and bat boxes for nesting;
  • Planting hedgerows and trees to protect essential food sources such as wild berries;

Look out for the Conservation Grade Farming logo on products. That way you can be sure you’re supporting farms dedicated to preserving Britain’s wildlife.

How does this help?

The Conservation Grade™ farming system is proven to dramatically reverse the continuing decline in wildlife on farmland:

  • Wildlife on nature friendly farms has increased 5 times;
  • 13 fold increase in butterflies;
  • 40% increase in birds;
  • 600 times more bee colonies.

Why is that important?

Modern food production is often at the expense of wildlife and the natural environment. Increasing agricultural intensification has led to the loss of biodiversity - with massive declines in birds, bumblebees and many other species. As around 80% of Britain is used for farming, with 35% for arable crops, it’s vital to act decisively in the food and farming sector if ecological sustainability in the UK is to be maintained.

By putting scientifically-backed, carefully-designed and well-located habitats into modern farming we are creating the essential conditions where nature and farming can function sustainably side by side again.
