This cake is so easy to mix together and you don’t even need to put the oven on! It is cooked in the bread machine on bake mode in just 45 minutes!

Sticky ginger and marmalade cake Ingredients

75 grams Butter
100 grams Dark Muscovado Sugar (Billington's) Dark Muscovado Sugar (Billington's)
75 grams Golden Syrup (Silver Spoon) Golden Syrup (Silver Spoon)
75 grams Orange Marmalade
225 grams Plain Wholemeal Flour (Allinson) Plain Wholemeal Flour (Allinson)
1.50 tsp Baking Powder
0.50 tsp Bicarbonate Of Soda
1 tbsp Ground Ginger
150 ml Milk Milk
1 Free Range Eggs Free Range Eggs
3 Stem Ginger knobs (drained and chopped (optional)
Marmalade to glaze if liked

How to make Sticky ginger and marmalade cake

  1. Remove the paddle from the baking pan in your bread machine. Line the base with baking parchment.
  2. Place the butter, sugar, syrup and marmalade in a small pan and heat gently until the butter melts.
  3. Mix the flour, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda and ginger in a mixing bowl. Add the chopped stem ginger if using.
  4. Beat the milk and egg together and add to the flour mixture with the butter and sugar mixture.
  5. Pour the mixture into the baking pan and place in the bread machine. Set to bake only mode and set the timer for 45 minutes.
  6. The cake should be risen and just firm to the touch. Turn out and allow to cool.
