Ginger Cake Ingredients

125 grams Golden Caster Sugar (Billington's) Golden Caster Sugar (Billington's)
125 grams Unsalted Butter
1 Free Range Eggs Free Range Eggs
225 ml Black Treacle
300 grams Plain White Flour (Allinson Nature Friendly) Plain White Flour (Allinson Nature Friendly)
2 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Cinnamon ground
1 tsp Ginger ground
75 grams Stem Ginger chopped
Apricot Jam for the glaze

How to make Ginger Cake

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/ 160°C fan/ 350°F/ Mark4. Grease and line a loaf tin with baking paper. method tip
  2. In a saucepan, heat the butter, sugar and black treacle until melted
  3. In a bowl, sift the flour, baking powder and spices method tip
  4. Add the black treacle mixture to the dry ingrediants and mix well. Add the egg and mix to combine
  5. Add in the stem ginger and spoon into prepared tin
  6. Bake in the oven for 50 minutes
  7. Once baked, move from oven and leave to cool method tip
  8. Remove from tin and glaze with apricot jam and decorate with more stem ginger
