Children love to bake, and enjoy decorating even more! This recipe for traditional fairy cakes is easy to make, quick to cook, and a nice flat surface area to decorate with lots of messy icing!

Fairy Cakes Ingredients
| 200 grams | Sunflower Spread or Margarine | |
| 200 grams | Golden Caster Sugar (Billington's) | ![]() |

| 1 tsp | Pure Vanilla Extract Blend (Nielsen-Massey) | ![]() |
| 200 grams | Self Raising Flour (Allinson Nature Friendly) | ![]() |
| 0.50 tsp | Baking Powder |

| 1 sachet | Eggs White Powder | |
| 200 grams | Billington's Golden Icing Sugar | |
| 1 | Food Colouring | |
| 70 grams | Billington's Golden Icing Sugar (Buttercream Icing) | |
| 120 grams | Sunflower Spread (Buttercream Icing) |

How to make Fairy Cakes

- Preheat the oven to 180 C/170 C fan/ gas mark 5.
- Line a patty tin with cake cases, if you have no cake cases, grease and flour the individual holes.
- Beat together the sunflower spread, sugar, eggs and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth.
- Sift the flour into the bowl with the baking powder. Stir in until well blended. Spoon the mix into the cake cases, if using.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until a skewer comes out clean when inserted. Cool on a rack before decorating.
- To make the icing, mix together the icing sugar and egg white powder with a teaspoon of water. Add the colouring as required. You may need to adjust the thickness with icing sugar or water so that it is right for piping.
- To make butter cream icing, mix together the icing sugar and sunflower spread. Add colour as desired, and spoon on to the fairy cakes.
