Milk Tart Ingredients

150 grams Self Raising White Flour (Allinson Nature Friendly) Self Raising White Flour (Allinson Nature Friendly)
500 ml Milk Milk
2 Happy Eggs lightly beaten Happy Eggs
150 grams Golden Caster Sugar (Billington's) Golden Caster Sugar (Billington's)
1 tsp Vanilla Extract (Nielsen-Massey) Vanilla Extract (Nielsen-Massey)
25 grams Butter melted
pinch Salt

1 Apple(s) peeled and sliced
30 grams Cranberries droed
0.50 tsp Cinnamon

How to make Milk Tart

  1. Butter a 23cm pie dish and preheat the oven to 175°C. Mix together the flour, milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, melted butter and salt to form a smooth batter. method tip
  2. Pour into a prepared pie dish and top it with apple slices and dried cranberries
  3. Sprinkle the cinnamon over the top.
  4. Bake for 45 minutes at 175°C. method tip
  5. Serve warm or cold. It sinks and becomes denser as it cools. If you eat it hot, you'll need a spoon to scoop up the soft custardy tart, but cold you can pick up the slices in your hand, if it hasn't vanished long before then

"Tried this recipe in the Aga, turned out great. Luckily used cooking apples not eaters as it turned out quite sweet. Also left out cranberries. Forced ourselves to leave some to go cold to try the different textures. Going to try it with pears next."
