This recipe for mince pies are perfect for Santa. Let him know you've been extra good this year by leaving a few out on Christmas Eve with a glass of Whisky. Just don't forget to leave some carrots for Rudolf too! Made with orange pastry, this recipe makes 12 large or 16 mini mince pies.

Mince Pies for Santa Ingredients

250 grams Plain White Flour (Allinson Nature Friendly) Plain White Flour (Allinson Nature Friendly)
50 grams Caster Sugar (Silver Spoon) Caster Sugar (Silver Spoon)
125 grams Butter
1 Orange (grated zest)
6 tbsp Mincemeat
1 Free Range Eggs (Happy Eggs) (beaten) Free Range Eggs (Happy Eggs)

How to make Mince Pies for Santa

  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C/fan200°C/gas 7. Grease a 16-hole mini tartlet tin.
  2. Put flour and caster sugar into a large bowl. Rub the butter into the flour mixture. method tip
  3. Add the finely grated zest of 1/2 orange and 2-3 tablespoons of orange juice. Mix and bring the mixture together to form a ball. Knead lightly, cover with cling film and chill for 30 minutes. method tip
  4. Roll out the pastry thinly. Use a fluted pastry cutter to press out either 16 circles if you're making mini mince pies or 12 circles if you want to make regular sized mince pies. Use a slightly smaller cutter to make the lids. Line the tin with the larger circles.
  5. Fill each with a teaspoon of mincemeat and place the smaller pastry lids on top. Brush with a little beaten egg.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minute until golden.
  7. Once out of the oven dust with a little icing sugar for that perfect finishing touch.
