Buttermilk Scones

Buttermilk Scones Ingredients
| 200 grams | Plain White Flour (Allinson Nature Friendly) | ![]() |

| 1 tsp | Bicarbonate Of Soda | |
| 50 grams | Butter refrigerated and diced | |
| 2 tbsp | Golden Caster Sugar (Billington's) | ![]() |
| 50 ml | Buttermilk and extra for glazing | |

How to make Buttermilk Scones

- Preheat the oven to 220 C, 200 C fan, gas Mk 6. Grease and flour a baking sheet. Sift together the flour, salt and bicarbonate of soda.
- Rub in the butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs, then stir in the sugar. Stir in the buttermilk and egg. Knead the dough briefly to even out the texture.
- Using a floured rolling pin, roll out the dough on a floured surface to a depth of approx. 1cm thick. Use a floured 5 cm cutter to cut out 12 scones. Reroll the dough if necessary. Transfer to the pepared baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
- Cool on a wire rack. Serve cold or warm with sliced strawberries and cream.
