Coconut and Orange Plait

An impressive plait in a circle! The orange and coconut are a lovely fresh and sweet combination.

Coconut and Orange Plait Ingredients
| 450 grams | Very Strong Bread Flour (Allinson Premium White) | ![]() |
| 1 tsp | Golden Caster Sugar (Billington's) | ![]() |
| 1 tsp | Salt | |
| 50 grams | Desiccated coconut | |
| 1 sachet | Easy Bake Yeast (Allinson) 1 x 7g sachet | ![]() |
| 200 ml | Coconut milk, warmed | |
| 50 ml | Grand Marnier | |
| 1 | Orange large, finely grated rind and juice | |
| 1 | Happy Eggs Beaten | ![]() |
| 1 | Happy Eggs To Decorate Glace Icing and Orange Zest | ![]() |

How to make Coconut and Orange Plait

- Place the ingredients into a mixer with a dough hook attached.
- Mix to a soft dough and knead for 5 minutes.
- If mixing by hand, put the flour, sugar, salt, orange rind and coconut into a bowl.
- Sprinkle on the yeast and mix to a soft dough with the coconut cream, Grand Marnier, orange juice and egg. Knead on a floured board for 10 minutes.
- Shape into 3 long strands, plait, then join the two ends of the plait to make a circle.
- Place onto a greased baking sheet and leave to prove until double in size. Preheat the oven to 190°C/fan 170°C/Gas Mark 5
- Bake for 30 minutes.
- When cool, top with glace icing and orange strands.
