Coconut and Orange Plait Ingredients

450 grams Very Strong Bread Flour (Allinson Premium White) Very Strong Bread Flour (Allinson Premium White)
1 tsp Golden Caster Sugar (Billington's) Golden Caster Sugar (Billington's)
1 tsp Salt
50 grams Desiccated coconut
1 sachet Easy Bake Yeast (Allinson) 1 x 7g sachet Easy Bake Yeast (Allinson)
200 ml Coconut milk, warmed
50 ml Grand Marnier
1 Orange large, finely grated rind and juice
1 Happy Eggs Beaten Happy Eggs
1 Happy Eggs To Decorate Glace Icing and Orange Zest Happy Eggs

How to make Coconut and Orange Plait

  1. Place the ingredients into a mixer with a dough hook attached.
  2. Mix to a soft dough and knead for 5 minutes.
  3. If mixing by hand, put the flour, sugar, salt, orange rind and coconut into a bowl.
  4. Sprinkle on the yeast and mix to a soft dough with the coconut cream, Grand Marnier, orange juice and egg. Knead on a floured board for 10 minutes. method tip
  5. Shape into 3 long strands, plait, then join the two ends of the plait to make a circle.
  6. Place onto a greased baking sheet and leave to prove until double in size. Preheat the oven to 190°C/fan 170°C/Gas Mark 5
  7. Bake for 30 minutes. method tip
  8. When cool, top with glace icing and orange strands.
