Ingredients

250 grams Allinson Premium Wholemeal Very Strong Bread Flour
250 grams Allinson Premium White Very Strong Bread Flour
1 ½ tsp Salt
2 tsp Ground Ginger
3 tbsp Glace Ginger Chopped
1 Orange zest
1 sachet Allinsons Easy Bake Yeast 1 x 7g sachet
1 Orange juice
60 ml Butter melted
1 Large Egg Beaten
170 ml Milk
1 tbsp Black Treacle
3 tbsp Water

Method

  1. Put the flours, salt, ground & glace ginger, orange rind and yeast into a bowl. method tip
  2. Mix to a soft dough with the orange juice, butter, egg, milk, treacle and water.
  3. Turn onto a floured surface and knead for 10 minutes.
  4. Shape as desired and put into an appropriate greased tin. method tip
  5. Leave to prove until double in size. method tip
  6. Bake in an oven preheated to 220°C/fan 200°C/Gas Mark 7 and immediately turn the heat down to 200°C/fan 180°C/Gas Mark 6. method tip
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes. method tip
