Dan's Cinnamon Swirls

Allinson Premium White Very Strong Bread flour creates the light texture and Billington's Demerara sugar adds crunch to the filling.  This recipe was first published in Allinson 'Better Bread Booklet' inspired by Dan De Gustibus.

Dan's Cinnamon Swirls Ingredients

500 grams Very Strong Bread Flour (Allinson Premium White) Very Strong Bread Flour (Allinson Premium White)
1 tbsp Runny Honey
1 tsp Salt
1 sachet Easy Bake Yeast (Allinson) 1 x 7g sachet Easy Bake Yeast (Allinson)
1 Free Range Eggs (Happy Eggs) Yolk Free Range Eggs (Happy Eggs)
1.50 tbsp Melted Butter
345 ml Water Warm
1 tsp Cinnamon
2 tbsp Demerara Sugar (Billington's) Demerara Sugar (Billington's)

How to make Dan's Cinnamon Swirls

  1. Put the flour, honey, salt and yeast into a bowl. method tip
  2. Mix to a soft dough with the egg, butter and water.
  3. Turn onto a floured surface and knead until smooth. method tip
  4. Roll out into a rectangle.
  5. Sprinkle over the cinnamon and demerara sugar and then roll up like a Swiss roll.
  6. Then cut into thick 2.5cm slices and leave to prove until double in size.
  7. Glaze and place in an oven and immediately turn the heat down to 200°C/fan 180°C/Gas Mark 6. Bake for 20-25 minutes. method tip

"This is now a firm favourite. Ive used it with castor sugar and demerarra and we actually prefer the sweeter castor but each to their own! Really easy to do - it was my first baking attempt!"

"Yum,Yum,Yum... I added some raisins and a nice thick layer of icing, like they have in starbucks, the only difference is that it cost me £1.50 to make 6, rather than the £2 for just one in the coffee shops. yum,yum,yum..."
