Date and Sherry Loaf Ingredients

200 grams Very Strong Bread Flour (Allinson Premium White) Very Strong Bread Flour (Allinson Premium White)
200 grams Allinson Country Grain Strong Brown Flour
2 tsp Sea Salt
50 grams Golden Caster Sugar (Billington's) Golden Caster Sugar (Billington's)
1 Lemon Grated rind of
125 grams Dates Stoned and Chopped
1 sachet Easy Bake Yeast (Allinson) 1 x 7g sachet Easy Bake Yeast (Allinson)
100 grams Butter Melted
125 ml JUST MILK Warmed JUST MILK
100 ml Medium Sherry Warmed
1 tsp Icing Sugar (Silver Spoon Homegrown) To Serve Icing Sugar (Silver Spoon Homegrown)

How to make Date and Sherry Loaf

  1. Place all the ingredients into a mixer with a dough hook attached.
  2. Mix to a soft dough and knead for 5 minutes. If mixing by hand, put the dry ingredients into a bowl and sprinkle on the yeast.
  3. Mix to a soft dough with the butter, milk and sherry. method tip
  4. Turn onto a floured board and knead for 10 minutes. method tip
  5. Shape the dough into 3 balls. Place onto a greased baking tray so that the balls are touching each other. method tip
  6. Leave to prove until double in size. Preheat the oven to 190°C/fan 170°C/Gas Mark 5 method tip
  7. Bake for 30 minutes. method tip
  8. When cool, dust with icing sugar. method tip
