Rustic Apple Loaf Ingredients

600 grams Seed & Grain Bread Flour (Allinson) Seed & Grain Bread Flour (Allinson)
1 tsp Sea Salt fine
15 grams Easy Bake Yeast (Allinson) Easy Bake Yeast (Allinson)
150 ml Apple Juice
200 ml Warm Water
75 grams Apples cooking, grated
1 tbsp Mixed Seeds, such as pumpkin, linseed and poppy seed

How to make Rustic Apple Loaf

  1. Put the flour, salt and yeast into a bowl. method tip
  2. Pour in the apple juice, water and grated apple. Mix together to make dough. Leave to rise in a warm place for up to 1 hour.
  3. Tip the dough out onto a lighty floured surface and knead for 10-15 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. Shape the dough into a round or oval shape and put onto a greased baking sheet. Sprinkle with seeds. Cover with a large bowl to prevent it forming a skin on the outside. Leave in a warm place until doubled in size, for up to 1 hour.
  5. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 220C/200C Fan/425F/ Gas Mark 7. When the loaf has almost doubled in size, slash it down the centre with a sharp knife.
  6. Reduce the oven temperture to 190C/170C Fan/375F/Gas mark 5 and bake the bread for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and hallow when the base is tapped. method tip
  7. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.
