Ingredients

For the dough

  • 260ml 8⅞ fl oz Warm water
  • 60ml 2 fl oz Olive oil
  • 1tbsp 1tbsp Honey
  • 1½tsp 1½tsp Salt
  • 450g 16 oz Very strong white bread flour (we like Allinson)
  • 2½tsp 2½tsp Easy bake yeast (we like Allinson)

For the filling

  • 400g 14⅛ oz Sausage meat pork
  • 1 1 Apple(s) cored, grated
  • ½ ½ Onion(s) finely chopped
  • 3tbsp 3tbsp Parsley filling
  • 1tsp 1tsp Tabasco sauce
  • 1 1 Egg(s) (free range) to glaze
  • Black pepper
  • pinch pinch Salt

The Method Enter Bake mode

  1. Classic mode Step 1

    Put the dough ingredients into the bread maker baking pan in the order specified for your particular model (see manufacturer’s handbook).

    Set to the dough program.

    When the cycle is complete shape and bake the dough as directed in the traditional method below (Step 6).

    If using the traditional method, put the flour, salt and yeast into a bowl and mix to a dough with the honey, oil and water.

    • 450g 16 oz Very strong white bread flour (we like Allinson)
    • pinch pinch Salt
    • 2½tsp 2½tsp Easy bake yeast (we like Allinson)
    • 1tbsp 1tbsp Honey
    • 60ml 2 fl oz Olive oil
    • 260ml 8⅞ fl oz Warm water
  5. Classic mode Step 5

    Turn onto a floured surface and knead for 10 minutes.

    Meanwhile prepare the filling by squashing all the ingredients together in a bowl.

    • 1 1 Apple(s) cored, grated
    • ½ ½ Onion(s) finely chopped
    • 3tbsp 3tbsp Parsley filling
    • 1tsp 1tsp Tabasco sauce
    • Black pepper
    • pinch pinch Salt
  7. Classic mode Step 7

    Roll the dough into a square about 30 x 30 cm.

    Shape the sausagemeat into a roll to fit down the centre of the dough, leaving 3cm uncovered at each end.

    Brush the edges of the dough with water and bring them up to cover the filling, crimping the edges together to seal completely.

    Cover with a tea towel and leave to prove for 20-30 minutes.

    Brush with egg wash and bake in an oven preheated to 200°C (180°C fan, 400°F, gas mark 6) turning the oven down immediately to 190°C (170°C fan, 375°F, gas mark 5).

    Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden.
