These buns are beautifully sweet and lightly spiced with almonds and juicy sultanas. They taste wonderful with a nice hot drink.

  • 300ml 10⅛ fl oz Warm water
  • 300g 10⅝ oz Very strong white bread flour (we use Allinson) Very strong white bread flour
  • 100g 3½ oz Rye flour
  • 1tbsp 1tbsp Mixed spice
  • 1¼tsp 1 .25tsp Sea salt
  • 1tbsp 1tbsp Honey
  • 100g 3½ oz Almonds chopped
  • 125g 4½ oz Sultanas
  • 1tbsp 1tbsp Easy bake yeast (we use Allinson)

The Method Enter Bake mode

  1. Classic mode Step 1

    Put the ingredients (except the almonds and sultanas) into the bread maker baking pan in the order specified for your particular model (see manufacturer’s handbook).

  2. Classic mode Step 2

    Set to the basic white program.

    Add the almonds and sultanas at the time for added ingredients as directed by the manufacturer of your machine.

    Remove the dough from machine and knead until smooth.

    Shape the dough into 7 balls.

    Place into a greased round tin (23cm/9”), leave to prove until double in size – the balls should be touching.  Preheat the oven to 190°C (170°C fan, gas mark 5).

    Bake for 30 minutes.

  8. Classic mode Step 8

    Glaze, cool and serve.
