Remember remember the 5th of November…

Each year on the 5th of November people around the country light bonfires to celebrate the fact that King James had survived the attempt on his life on that date in 1605. Guy Fawkes, a member of the gunpowder plot was arrested whilst guarding the explosives which had been placed beneath the House of Lords ready to kill the King.

The present-day Guy Fawkes Night is usually celebrated at large organised events, centred on a bonfire and extravagant firework displays.
