This pear and cheese calzone is a delicious combination of flavours. Why not make it for a picnic this Summer?

Method

  1. If mixing by hand, put the flour, salt and sugar into a bowl and sprinkle on the yeast. Mix to a soft dough with the eggs, milk and melted butter. Alternatively but all of these ingredients into a mixer with a dough hook attached.

  2. Turn onto a floured board and knead for 10 minutes, or knead for 5 minutes if using a dough hook.

  3. Roll the dough out to a large circle.

  4. Place the cheese and pears in the centre, wet the edges and flip one half of the dough over to form a semi circle, seal the edges and brush with egg.

  5. Leave to prove until doubled in size.

  6. Bake at 190°C (fan 170°C, gas mark 5) for 30 minutes.
