These beautiful teacakes are perfect to make and share. To make them extra special, try icing them once cool.  

Method

  1. Place all the ingredients except the egg into a mixer with a dough hook, or mix together in a large mixing bowl.

  2. Mix into a soft dough, knead for 5 minutes with a dough hook or 10 minutes if kneading by hand.

  3. Divide into 6 portions – shape into rolls and place onto a greased baking tin.

  4. Leave to prove until doubled in size. Preheat the oven to 190°C (fan 170°C, gas mark 5).

  5. Bake for 20 minutes
