Try these cute cupcake versions of the traditional Italian dessert.

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (gas mark 4) and line a muffin tin with cupcake cases.

  2. Beat the butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla extract until smooth.

  3. Sieve the flour and baking powder into the mixture and fold in.

  4. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.

  5. Divide the mixture between the cases, then bake in the oven for 15 minutes or until the skewer comes out clean. Leave to cool on a wire rack.

  6. To make the topping whisk the mascarpone and icing sugar then add the marsala. Spread this onto the cupcakes using a palette knife. Dust with the cocoa powder.
