To create round domed cupcakes pre-heat your oven to 200c/fan oven 180c/gas mark 6, then as soon as you put the cakes in the oven reduce the temperture to 170c/150c/gas mark 5 and cook for the recommended time. If you want your cakes to be even more domed, spread the buttercream in an even dome then cover with a circle of thinly rolled fondant icing and decorate.
