One of our favourite things at Baking Mad is getting creative with our cupcake decorating. With a bit of food colouring and fondant icing you can let your imagination go wild. Here is a quick guide to making these funky flamingo cake toppers.
Method
Method
Step 1
Ice your cupcake with pink buttercream icing. We created this by mixing some raspberry jam with vanilla buttercream to give it a burst of berry flavor.
Step 2
Next take a small ball of pink fondant icing and roll into a thick small sausage shape.
Step 3
Arch the top of the fondant into a curve to form the neck of the flamingo and roll a small amount of black fondant to wrap round the end to create the beak. Add a touch of white icing to the beak and a small ball of black for an eye. Insert a cocktail stick into the pink fondant to support the neck.
Step 4
Insert the flamingo into the cupcake and for an extra flourish we attached feathers to the back of the cupcake case for wings.
