The simple, stripped back style of this sponge allows the taste to really do the talking and the velvety Nielsen-Massey vanilla buttercream says it all. Sleek and stylish. Sweet and moreish. This naked vanilla cake works on so many levels; ideal for bakers less confident in cake decorating or tasters who aren’t that fond of fondant.

I used four layers of the Fluffy Vanilla Cake for this cake, making it nice and tall – it looks really effective. I also coloured the layers, so there’s lots of rainbow fun inside the cake as well as on the outside – it looks really sweet and goes well with the rainbow mane. Unicorn Cake

There's cake then there is the Nielsen Massey&nbsp;Ultimate Vanilla Celebration&nbsp;Cake. A classic 4 layer Vanilla sponge cake, infused with a Vanilla syrup to make it extra moist, filled and covered with an indulgent Vanilla Bean buttercream. The pièce de résistance are the <a data-item-id="d4674f69-97e5-5a63-a5e9-ec22eae39bc0" href="">Rose Water Meringue Kisses</a> and <a data-item-id="2e8bf232-3c9a-5452-82aa-6ebf654124cc" href="">Macaron</a> decorations. Whilst this cake looks like a real showstopper it actually isn't as complicated as you would think (but your guests don't need to know that!)&nbsp;

We're feeling all retro with this showstopping blast from the past Rubix Cube cake. It's really not as puzzling as you would think to make and consists of a classic Madeira sponge with jam and buttercream filling, covered it fun and colourful squares.

This layered cake is really something else. You are looking at 3 completely different layers: chocolate chip cookie, then a crushed oreo layer topped with a brownie layer. The top is drenched in a chocolate ganache with lots of biscuits and cookies on the top.&nbsp; Although it looks like a challenge, it's the same basic sponge mixture with different additions for each layer which makes it relatively simple to make.&nbsp; You're going to want to eat a big slice of this.&nbsp;Put your stretchy pants on!

This sponge cake is made with carrots and beetroot which adds a natural sweetness and moistness to the cake. Topped with a beetroot stained pink cream-cheese frosting, and decorated with edible flowers, a caterpillar made with green grapes and other tasty treats. This simple chocolate sponge recipe is so easy and tastes great. We've finished ours with a cute elephant and bunting decoration for a child's 1st birthday but you could decorate it however you wish; and if you don't feel confident making edible decorations, swap them out for some candles instead.

Rich with the warm flavours of ginger and orange, we've used molasses sugar to really add a depth of flavour to this moist ginger bread cake. We've used wholemeal flour in the sponge to compliment the flavours. To ice, we've topped ours with a soft cream cheese buttercream and used lashings of salted caramel sauce. For a finishing touch break up the crumbs from the gingerbread cut offs and crumble on top.

This is a fabulous grown up cake, with all the flavours of a Margarita. The sponge&nbsp;is fragrant with fresh lime zest and a hint of Tequila and Triple Sec and finished with a luxurious buttercream. It’s a perfect accompaniment to drinks with friends or as a dessert with Mexican food.

If you are only catering for a smaller group you can reduce the serving amount by only baking either the 6" or 8" cakes. When making a cake that requires flowers it's always best to make them a few days in advance so they have plenty of time to set and can be handled more easily without breaking. They can be made with sugar paste icing or with flower paste (from cake decorating stores) which sets harder.
