About the bake

Easy peasy pizzas are great way to make a homemade meal and have fun with the family. This recipe gives you the basics to make your own pizza dough and a delicious homemade tomato sauce. Then it's up to you to get creative with toppings of your choice. If you're undecided why not split two different topping choice on the same pizza and make it half and half.

  1. Step 1:

    To make the tomato sauce, empty the tomatoes into a saucepan and add the rest of the ingredients. Bring to the boil, then turn down the heat so that the mixture simmers for about 30 minutes. You can store in the fridge until you are ready to use the sauce then spread over the pizza base.

  2. Step 2:

    Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan, gas mark 6). Grease 1 or 2 baking sheets.

  3. Step 3:

    Put the flour, yeast, sugar and salt into a bowl. Mix gently and make a well in the middle.  Add the water and oil and mix into a soft dough that comes away from the edge of the bowl.

  4. Step 4:

    Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes.

  5. Step 5:

    Shape into 2 smaller pizza or 1 large circle. Place on the greased baking sheets and spread with the tomato sauce.

  6. Step 6:

    Top with a generous sprinkling of the cheese of your choice and bake for 15-25 minutes or when the crust is golden brown.

  7. Step 7:

    If you would like a thicker crust to your pizza leave your dough to rise for 20 minutes before you add the sauce and topping.


  • For the Dough

    • 450g Very strong white bread flour (sifted)
    • 1 1/2 tsp Easy bake yeast
    • 1 1/2 tsp Unrefined golden granulated sugar
    • 1 1/2 tsp Salt
    • 260ml Warm water
    • 60ml Olive oil
  • For the Tomato Sauce

    • 400g Chopped tomatoes
    • 1 Garlic clove(s) (crushed)
    • 1 tsp Basil (dried)
    • 1 tsp Oregano (dried)
    • 1 tbsp Tomato purée
