About the bake

Everyone will love this rhubarb crumble recipe. If you fancy putting a twist on the classic why not add orange rind and juice or chopped stem ginger to the rhubarb or add a handful of chopped nuts to the crumble for a tasty variation.

    Method

    1. Step 1

      Preheat the oven to 190°C (170°C fan, gas mark 5).

    2. Step 2

      Cut the rhubarb into 5cm chunks and place in a shallow baking dish. Sprinkle with the sugar and 3 tbsp water.

    3. Step 3

      To make the crumble place the butter, flour and sugar in a mixing bowl and rub the butter into the flour with your fingertips until it resembles coarse crumbs.

    4. Step 4

      Spoon onto the rhubarb and bake for 35-45 mins until golden brown.

    Ingredients

    • For the filling

      • 550gRhubarb 
      • 3 tbspUnrefined golden granulated sugar 
    • For the crumble

      • 125gAllinson's Plain White Flour 
      • 75gButter (unsalted) 
      • 50gUnrefined demerara sugar

    Very easy recipe. I also did a second one with eating apples a desert spoon of sugar and 3 tablespoons water. For the apple crumble I added cinnamon to the topping. Both delicious served with custard
