Every cupcake needs a delicious topping and this is a great way to perfect yours. This basic buttercream recipe is sure to give you perfect results every time.

Method

  1. Beat the butter and sugar together until smooth, before adding the vanilla extract. Adding a splash of milk, if preferred will help soften and make a soft smooth consistency.

  2. To create a coloured buttercream, add a few drops of food colouring at a time, mixing until your reach the desired colour.
