Delicious sausage rolls with a little Tabasco kick.

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (fan 180°C, gas mark 6).

  2. In a large frying pan, melt the butter and fry the mushrooms until they are nice and soft.

  3. Transfer the mushrooms to a large bowl, and then add the Tabasco sauce, thyme and sausage meat. Season it well with salt and pepper before thoroughly mixing it together.

  4. Roll out the puff pastry into a large rectangle, and then cut into two long rectangles.

  5. Place a layer of sausage meat mixture down the middle of each rectangle and brush 1 edge of each pastry with the beaten egg.

  6. Fold the other side of the pastry over onto the egg-washed edge. Press down to seal and trim any excess.

  7. Cut each pastry roll into 8-10 small sausage rolls. Place the sausage rolls onto a baking tray and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until crisp and lightly golden with the sausage meat completely cooked through
