About the bake

These lollies are alternative twist on the traditional toffee apple. This is a really fun activity for the kids to get involved with, from cutting the apples to dipping in the toffee sauce. A perfect treat when wrapped up warm watching a fireworks display.

    Method

    1. Step 1

To make the toffee, dissolve the sugar, golden syrup, vinegar and butter in a pan over a medium heat.

    2. Step 2

Once the ingredients are fully dissolved, bring the mix to the boil. Cook until the sugar thermometer reaches 148°C which should take approximately 10 minutes.

    3. Step 3

While the toffee is cooking, peel the apples and cut into rounds. Use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes of your choice.

    4. Step 4

Dip the apple shapes into the lemon juice and dap off any excess with some paper towel.

    5. Step 5

Pierce the bottom of each apple shape with a lolly pop stick.

    6. Step 6

Once the toffee is cooked, stir in the double cream and dip each shape into the toffee until fully coated. Be careful around the toffee as it can be really hot.

    7. Step 7

Leave the toffee to harden on a lightly oiled tray before serving.
