This chocolate and banana treat is a delicious twist on a traditional tea loaf.

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C (170°C fan, gas mark 5). Line a 900g (2lb) loaf tin with baking paper.

  2. Mix the flour, golden granulated sugar, cocoa powder, bicarbonate of soda and baking powder in a bowl.

  3. In a seperate bowl mix the butter, eggs, bananas and chocolate together.

  4. Fold the banana mixture well into the dry ingredients and place the mixture into the prepared loaf tin.

  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour. Cool in the tin and serve sliced.

    omg. It was amazing. I took it out of the oven sooner so that the middle was still a bit gooey. It lasted 12 hours and was gone.
