This simple recipe was submitted by one of our members Richard Gowthorpe. It's so quick and easy to make and tastes wonderful with a serving of warm custard.

Method

  1. Mix together the eggs, flour, sugar, butter and milk.

  2. Grease a large pudding basin or four individual size pudding basins. Pour golden syrup into the bottom of the pudding basin(s).

  3. Pour the cake mix on top. Cover with cling and pierce a few times. Microwave for 5 minutes.

  4. Leave for 5 minutes before serving with custard.

    Perfect.
Variables are the strength of your microwave & the size of bowl you use.

This recipe is brilliant! It is so easy and works perfectly. It was also just as good on the second day. I shall try it using jam next time.
I don't know why people go to the bother of steaming puddings in a saucepan.
Thank you for making such a straight forward uncomplicated recipe. I shall file this in my 'successful recipes' file.

After reading all the good reviews I made this for the first time today. Total desaster. Half of the sponge ended up on the OUTSIDE of the pudding dish and onto the microwave plate.

Very easy to make and it was very nice the only problem I have with microwave cakes or puddings is they lack colour. I wonder if a little dried milk was added would it give a better appearance to the pudding

Made this as an emergency pud to have after our sunday lunch. Brilliant recipe, super quick and easy. I added the vanilla extract as suggested by one reviewer but I think I would probably also add another tablespoon (or two!) of syrup next time too.
