About the bake

This chocolate and banana treat is a delicious twist on a traditional tea loaf.

Method

  1. Step 1

    Preheat the oven to 190°C (170°C fan, gas mark 5). Line a 900g (2lb) loaf tin with baking paper.

  2. Step 2

    Mix the flour, golden granulated sugar, cocoa powder, bicarbonate of soda and baking powder in a bowl.

  3. Step 3

    In a seperate bowl mix the butter, eggs, bananas and chocolate together.

  4. Step 4

    Fold the banana mixture well into the dry ingredients and place the mixture into the prepared loaf tin.

  5. Step 5

    Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour. Cool in the tin and serve sliced.

    • 150gBillington's unrefined golden granulated sugar 
    • 25gCocoa powder 
    • 1 tspBicarbonate of soda 
    • 1 tspBaking powder 
    • 115gButter (salted) (melted) 
    • 2Egg(s) (free range) (lightly beaten) 
    • 275gBanana(s) (very ripe, mashed) 
    • 100gDark chocolate (cut into small chunks)
