Who doesn't love a good apple crumble? Whether served with ice cream, cream or vanilla custard, it's sure to be a crowd pleaser, especially on a cold and rainy day. 


  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C/170° fan/gas 5. Mix the apples with 2 tbsp golden caster sugar and put in a the round baking dish, flattening the apples down. 

  2. Put the flour and 110g of golden caster sugar in a mixing bowl and slice in the cold butter and rub with your fingertips until it looks like breadcrumbs. 


    Top Tip: Rubbing in Butter and Flour
  3. Pour the crumble mixture over the apples Gently firm the surface with the back of a fork. Sprinkle the rolled oats and demerara sugar on top if you wish. 

  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, until the top is golden 

    Leave to cool for 10 minutes before serving with custard, cream or ice cream.
