Doughnut Sticks With Chocolate Dip
About the bake
These doughnuts are quick and easy to make, ideal for a Sunday afternoon treat or for a birthday party. They are best eaten freshly made whilst still hot.
Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl and stir in the sugar.
Beat one tablespoon of oil and egg into into the dry ingredients, adding the milk slowly until the mixture forms a soft dough.
Heat the remaining oil in a deep-fat fryer to 170°C (335°F) or until a little of the mixture sizzles as soon as it is dropped in.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface and pat out to about 1 cm thick. Cut into thin strips and place carefully into the hot oil. Fry for 3-4 mins on each side, until golden and crisp.
Sprinkle the doughnuts with the sugar and cinnamon while hot and serve as soon as possible.
To make the chocolate dip, gently warm the chocolate and cream together until melted. Pour into a serving dish and serve.
