About the bake

This rice pudding is so simple to make and perfectly complimented with the addition of sweet fig slices.

Method

  1. Step 1

    Place the flaked rice, milk, Half Spoon, vanilla extract, orange zest and juice in a saucepan.

  2. Step 2

    Bring to the boil then reduce the heat to a gentle simmer for 30-35 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. Step 3

    Alternatively, place all the ingredients into a large bowl, cover and microwave on full power for 10 minutes. Stir well and return for a further 10 minutes.

  4. Step 4

    Adjust the consistency with a little milk.

  5. Step 5

    Before serving finish with orange zest and fig slices.

    • 60gRice (flaked) 
    • 600mlSemi skimmed milk 
    • 2 tspSilver spoon half spoon granulated sugar 
    • 1Orange zest (plus extra for topping) 
    • 1Orange juice 
    • 1/2 tspNielsen-Massey Vanilla Extract 
    • 3Figs

Horrid, I doubt this recipe has been tried by baking mad. The orange juice makes the milk split into curds and thin watery whey - curdled rice pudding is not nice !
