  • 225g 8 oz Plain white flour (we use Allinson) Plain white flour
  • 4tsp 4tsp Baking powder
  • 2tsp 2tsp Unrefined golden caster sugar (we use Billington's) Unrefined golden caster sugar
  • 1tsp 1tsp Salt
  • 2 2 Egg(s) (free range)
  • 300ml 10⅛ fl oz Milk (whole)
  • 50g 1⅞ oz Butter (unsalted)
  • Maple sauce For drizzling (we use Treat) Maple sauce

The Method Enter Bake mode

  1. Classic mode Step 1

    Sieve the flour and baking powder into a bowl and stir in the sugar and salt.

    Make a well in the centre and add the eggs and milk. Whisk to a smooth batter and ideally leave for 30 minutes.

    • Milk (semi-skimmed)
  3. Classic mode Step 3

    Lightly grease a pan with butter and spoon the mixture on to the hot pan. Cook on each side for a couple of minutes.

    • 50g 1⅞ oz Butter (unsalted)
  4. Classic mode Step 4

    Transfer to a plate and keep warm while you cook the remaining batter. Use the remaining butter in between to re-grease the pan.

    Enjoy drizzled with syrup or stack and serve with fresh fruits.
