These banana and chocolate chips muffins are deliciously moist and the combination of banana and chocolate is divine. Taking only 15 minutes to prepare and 25 minutes to bake, this is a simple pleasure and great for sharing.

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (fan 160°C, gas mark 4) and line a 12 hole muffin tin with paper cases.

  2. Place all of the ingredients in a bowl and beat until smooth.

  3. Spoon the mixture evenly into the paper cases and place in the oven for 25 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean and the muffins are golden brown in colour.

  4. Remove from the oven and cool on a cooling rack.

Fantastic muffins, really moist and yummy. This is the second batch I've made, the first time I substituted chopped dates for the chocolate chips which worked really well. This second batch made as per recipie, just as yummy I will definitely be making more!

So easy to make with 2 young kids - we only put in 100g normal caster sugar and they turned out fine. Also added some vanilla as others have suggested and coconut on the top, and used a leftover easter egg broken up instead of choc chips - delicious!

Super, used slightly less sugar, added some maple, and a teaspoon of vanilla.

These are great every time (made them about 10 times now - husband and 6-year old both love them). They freeze really well and taste just as good post freezing - I replace a third of the choc chips with glace cherries, works really well.

  13. 5 star rating

full stars! very light and yummy, the chocolate really adds to the taste and i cut down on the sugar and it was still very good!

They are amazing. I managed to make 15 because the bananas were quite big. I also put them in for 29 minutes instead because they weren’t quite golden. These wound last long in my house😇

Can I use baking soda here in case baking powder is unavailable?
    ________________________________________________

    Hello,
Unfortunately they are not a straight swap, baking soda is 3-4 times stronger than baking powder. You can make baking powder using baking soda. All you need to make baking powder are two ingredients: baking soda and cream of tartar. If combine ½ teaspoon cream of tartar plus ¼ teaspoon baking soda for every 1 teaspoon of baking powder you should get a baking powder substitute.
    Hope this helps.
    Happy Baking!

So easy to do and tasted delicious! I recommend adding vanilla extract and maybe an extra half banana for a sweeter, stronger flavour. I also sprinkled desiccated coconut on top which was yummy

  38. 5 star rating

Easy to do and very tasty. Swapped baking powder for quarter teaspoon of baking soda and half teaspoon of lemon juice, hard to find baking ingredients during lockdown. Used 150g sugar, would probably try 125g next time as plenty of sweetness from banana.

Absolutely wonderful ,easy to make and very tasty xx
