An interesting twist on a bacon sandwich, this loaf is sure to become a family favourite.

Method

  1. Put the ingredients into the bread maker baking pan in the order specified for your particular model (see manufacturer’s handbook). Set to the basic white program.

  2. Remove the dough from machine and knead until smooth.

  3. Shape the dough into an oblong and place into a 900g/2 lb greased loaf tin.

  4. Leave to prove until double in size.

  5. Brush with water and sprinkle on some more dried sage. Bake at 190°C (170°C, 375°F, gas mark 5) for 30 minutes.
