Very nice cake, That's a lot of fat, though! Is there any way to lower the calories?

    Hi Cathy,
Some top tips: use half the butter and replace the other half with unsweetened applesauce, mashed banana or prune puree. We haven't tried these substitutions in this recipe before, so let us know how it goes if you have a try!

This was my choice to take to our Bowls Club Competition Day. It was a huge success, with requests for the recipe and “tasters” to take home. This recipe will be my “go to” in future because it was a pleasure to make and bake.
