About the bake

An interesting twist on a bacon sandwich, this loaf is sure to become a family favourite. If you have a breadmaker, this recipe is really simple with only five steps to follow. Be sure to fry off your bacon in a frying pan before you start adding your ingredients into the breadmaker. If you have never used a breadmaker or bread machine before we've included one of our classic videos to show you the basics.

Method

  1. Step 1:

    Put the ingredients into the bread maker baking pan in the order specified for your particular model (see manufacturer’s handbook). Set to the basic white program.

  2. Step 2:

    Remove the dough from machine and knead until smooth.

  3. Step 3:

    Shape the dough into an oblong and place into a 900g/2 lb greased loaf tin.

  4. Step 4:

    Leave to prove until double in size.

  5. Step 5:

    Brush with water and sprinkle on some more dried sage. Bake at 190°C (170°C, 375°F, gas mark 5) for 30 minutes.

Ingredients

    • 225ml Warm water
    • 200g Allinson's Strong White Bread Flour
    • 200g Allinson's very strong wholemeal bread flour
    • 150g Streaky bacon rasher(s) (cubed, fried and cooled)
    • 1 tbsp Sage leaves (fresh, finely chopped)
    • 1 tbsp Sea salt
    • 1 tsp Allinson's Easy Bake Yeast
