As an animal loving nation, we thought we'd share a dog biscuit recipe with you. These biscuits are made with just a handful of ingredients but deliver a taste sensation to your dog! Treat your dog to these lovely home made treats and you'll be his or her most popular owner!   These dog treats are not a meal substitute and should only be given as part of a healthy balanced diet and plenty of fresh clean water should be available at all times.

  1. Step 1:

    Preheat oven to 170 °C (150 °C for Fan Assisted Oven)

  2. Step 2:

    Dissolve the stock cube of your choice in hot water.

  3. Step 3:

    Add remaining ingredients

  4. Step 4:

    Knead dough until it forms a ball (approximately 3 minutes)

  5. Step 5:

    Roll dough until 1 cm thick.

  6. Step 6:

    Cut into slices or bone shapes (you can purchase a bone shaped cookie cutter to make shapes with)

  7. Step 7:

    Place dough pieces on baking paper

  8. Step 8:

    Bake for 20 -25 minutes (or until golden brown)

  9. Step 9:

    To make the optional Peanut Butter frosting, warm up the Peanut Butter in the microwave until it is smooth and easy to stir.

  10. Step 10:

    Add the water to the Peanut Butter and mix together before adding in the flour and stirring well. 

  11. Step 11:

    Spread over the dog biscuits and allow to set. If the mixture hardens before you have finished you can always warm again in the microwave. 

  12. Step 12:

    These biscuits can be stored & refrigerated in an airtight container for 2 months or alternatively kept frozen for up to 6 months


  • For the biscuits

    • 300g Plain wholemeal flour (substitute for oats if your dog is sensitive to wheat)
    • 1 tsp Salt
    • 1 Egg(s) (free range)
    • 1 Stock (beef, chicken or fish stock cube. customise to your dog's taste)
    • 150ml Water (hot)
  • For the Peanut Butter frosting

    • 120g Smooth peanut butter
    • 2.5 tsp Plain flour
    • 1 tbsp Water
