How to make dog biscuits

Show your furry friend just how much you love them, with the ultimate treat of freshly baked dog biscuits with simple dog friendly ingredients. Homemade dog biscuits are super easy to make, and are drizzled with Proper Nutty peanut butter - your four-legged friend will do all sorts of tricks for a reward as scrumptious as this!

In just 30 minutes, you'll have your pooch sitting perfectly waiting for a tasty treat - you'll soon be baking and not buying for your doggy. Woof!

These dog treats are not a meal substitute and should only be given as part of a healthy balanced diet and plenty of fresh clean water should be available at all times.

Substitute the flour in this recipe for oats if your dog is sensitive to wheat.

    Method

    1. Step 1

      Preheat oven to 170 °C (150 °C for Fan Assisted Oven)

    2. Step 2

      Dissolve the stock cube of your choice in hot water.

      • Stock (beef, chicken or fish stock cube. customise to your dog's taste) (1)
      • Water (hot) (150ml)

      Add remaining ingredients

      • Allinson's plain wholemeal flour (300g)

      Knead dough until it forms a ball (approximately 3 minutes)

    5. Step 5

      Roll dough until 1 cm thick.

    6. Step 6

      Cut into slices or bone shapes (you can purchase a bone shaped cookie cutter to make shapes with)

      Place dough pieces on baking paper

      Bake for 20 -25 minutes (or until golden brown)

    9. Step 9

      To make the optional Peanut Butter frosting, warm up the Peanut Butter in the microwave until it is smooth and easy to stir.

      • Proper Nutty Smunchy Peanut Butter (120g)

      Add the water to the Peanut Butter and mix together before adding in the flour and stirring well.

      • Allinson's plain flour (2.5 tsp)
      • Water (1 tbsp)

      Spread over the dog biscuits and allow to set. If the mixture hardens before you have finished you can always warm again in the microwave.

      These biscuits can be stored & refrigerated in an airtight container for 2 months or alternatively kept frozen for up to 6 months
