Fruit Crumbles

0 Reviews

About the bake

These delicious fruit crumbles can be topped with your own preferred topping. We have given you three topping ideas to get you started; oats, stem ginger and chocolate and macadamia. But why not try and create your own? For a quick dessert, make double the quantity of topping and freeze half of it. When you next come to make the crumbles, simply leave the topping out of the freezer for 20 minutes to defrost before using.

Method

  1. Step 1:

Preheat the oven to 180°C (fan 160°C, gas mark 4).

  2. Step 2:

For the fruit, dice and remove the core and seeds. Toss in the sugar, flour and cinnamon. Put the fruit in a pan over a medium heat, and simmer for 10 minutes, until the fruit is just soft.

  3. Step 3:

Meanwhile, make your crumble topping. For all the toppings, mix together the flour and butter and crumble between your fingers until the texture is like breadcrumbs. Stir in the sugar.

  4. Step 4:

Stir in the remaining ingredients according to your chosen topping.

  5. Step 5:

Spoon the fruit into an ovenproof dish. Spoon over the crumble topping, making sure that it is evenly spread. Bake for 30 minutes, until  golden. Serve with hot custard or cream
