About the bake

This is a lovely, rich chocolatey pudding, which will be loved by young and old alike. We recommend using homemade white bread for this delicious pudding.

  1. Step 1:

    Butter a 1.5 litre baking dish with the butter. Use remaining butter to butter the sliced bread. Cut the bread into triangles, and arrange neatly and compactly in the dish. Preheat the oven to 180°C (fan 160°C, gas mark 4).

  2. Step 2:

    Mix together the drinking chocolate, eggs, milk, single cream, grated chocolate and sugar. Pour the cream mix evenly over the bread. Set aside to soak for 15 minutes.

  3. Step 3:

    Bake for 40 minutes. Serve hot with custard or cream.  


    • 75g Butter
    • 400g Homemade white or wholemeal loaf (sliced)
    • 2 tbsp Drinking chocolate
    • 2 Egg(s) (free range)
    • 250ml Milk (whole)
    • 250ml Single cream
    • 100g Dark chocolate (grated)
    • 3 tbsp Unrefined golden granulated sugar
