Cookies in a Jar

Drop everything. We have the perfect baking gift to create for a loved one this Christmas, with 4 simple steps - this might possibly be the quickest way to put a guaranteed smile on someone's face. Layer up 6 everyday ingredients, and pop in some Christmassy chocolates for good measure to give someone everything they need to make gooey cookies.

We've added in Quality Streets for ultimate Christmas cookies, but these jars can be stuffed with what your friends and family love most. From Reese's cups, Celebrations, or even simple chocolate drops.

When you're done, simply hand tie with some ribbon and include the following instructions:

  • Preheat the oven to 180c/160c fan. Line two baking trays with greaseproof paper.
  • Take out the chocolate from the top of the jar, unwrap and roughly chop them.
  • Mix together the 125g melted butter and 1 beaten egg.
  • Pour all the dry ingredients into a large bowl. Add in the melted butter and egg mixture and mix to get a dough.
  • Mix in the chopped chocolates and scoop out 12-15 balls of cookie dough.
  • Chill for 30-45 minutes before baking for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set but the middle is still soft.

These jars make the perfect pair with a hand tied bag of Peppermint Creams for the ultimate taste of Christmas. Next, pour in the light muscovado sugar pressing it down to level before topping with the caster sugar.

  3. Step 3:

Top with the wrapped chocolates, put the lid on and tie it up with some twine or ribbon.
