San Francisco sourdough style bread

This delicious bread has the flavour of a sourdough without having to make a complicated sour dough starter!

  1. Step 1:

    Place all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix to make a soft, smooth dough. Knead for 5 minutes in an electric mixer, or for 10 minutes by hand until the dough is elastic.

  2. Step 2:

    Shape the dough into a circle, cut one line down the middle and 4 lines off this on each side.

  3. Step 3:

    Place onto a greased baking sheet and leave to prove until double in size. Meanwhile preheat the oven to 190°C (fan 170°C, gas mark 5).


  4. Step 4:

    Bake for 30 minutes.


    • 125ml Water
    • 125ml Natural yoghurt
    • 200g Very strong white bread flour
    • 200g Very strong wholemeal bread flour
    • 50g Rye flour
    • 50g Honey
    • 1.25 tsp Sea salt
    • 1.25 tsp Easy bake yeast
